Jack is a leading Pasadena employment lawyer. A founding partner of Hernandez Schaedel & Associates, LLP, Jack has devoted his seventeen-year career to litigation of labor and employment law matters and advising employers in managing their workforce and complying with federal and California employment law.
Representing and counseling employers with as few as two employees and as many as 30,000, based in Pasadena, around Southern California, and throughout the United States, Jack helps employers understand the nuances and finer points of discrimination and harassment law, wage and hour rules and regulations, leave law based on medical, family or disability reasons, handbook development and enforcement, and the panoply of issues that may face a client on any given day.
Jack’s experience includes a favorable verdict on behalf of an individual sexual harassment defendant owed a duty of indemnification, and a million-dollar reverse fee award in favor of a client wrongly accused of sexual harassment and persecuted by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Jack enjoys assisting clients facing multi-million dollar wage claims and other high-stakes employment litigation, but gets great satisfaction from helping clients develop systems to address and resolve issues before they get anywhere near that level.
During Jack’s first nine years of practice, he worked for employment law boutique Ballard Rosenberg Golper & Savitt, LLP, Loeb & Loeb, and Parker Milliken Clark O’Hara & Samuelian. He founded Schaedel & Associates, a Professional Law Corporation in 2004, operating it through 2009, when he joined forces with The Hernandez Law Group to found HS&A.
Jack also is a trained and skilled mediator, having earned a certificate from the world-renowned Straus Institute at Pepperdine University. He serves on the firm’s Marketing and Practice Development Committees.
Jack is the Chairman of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Pasadena Bar Association and is active in the Labor and Employment Law and Small Firms sections of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Jack is a Vice President of the Board of Directors of the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce and the Advisory Board of ConCISE, the consulting firm run by The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
Jack is a past President of the La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation, which raises over $2,000,000.00 annually to support class size reduction and special programs in the La Cañada Unified School District.
